HTC One - Delayed Until Late April

On what HTC is hoping to be a device that will get the company back into the smartphone elite, disappointing news was announced.  Reports indicate that part supplies have slowed production of the HTC One device, causing a delay for shipments until late April for most locations.

The timing of the delay couldn't have been at a worse time, with the Samsung Galaxy 4 release also coming at the end of April.  Samsung poses the most direct competition to HTC, and has effectively replaced HTC from marketshare king in the Android sector.  And while the HTC One looks promising with hopes to supress the Samsung momentum, this news may be too difficult to overcome.

A PR release was released by the company regarding the delay:

“HTC has seen unprecedented demand for and interest in the new HTC One, and the care taken to design and build it is evidenced in early reviews. The new HTC One will roll out in the UK, Germany and Taiwan next week and across Europe, North America and most of Asia-Pacific before the end of April. We appreciate our customers’ patience, and believe that once they have the phone in their hands they will agree that it has been worth the wait.”
